Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim Trophee des Champions Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening trophy on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in the Gulf and capture a fourth straight French Super Cup victory.

The European champions seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown between the French league champions and the Coupe de France winners after the French winger found the net early on.

However, Marseille struck twice late to seize a shock advantage. Initially, Mason Greenwood converted from the penalty spot, before the defender unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a remarkable turn of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital equaliser in the dying moments to force the contest into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, stopping decisive kicks from Matt O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and the young talent all converted successfully for PSG to complete a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time winners PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the twelfth time in the past 13 seasons.
